{"id":808,"date":"2017-08-14T10:00:08","date_gmt":"2017-08-14T10:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biglight.com\/serial-eyes-first-apprenticeship-winner-announced\/"},"modified":"2017-11-06T12:35:53","modified_gmt":"2017-11-06T12:35:53","slug":"serial-eyes-first-apprenticeship-winner-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biglight.com\/it\/serial-eyes-first-apprenticeship-winner-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Serial Eyes\u2019, annunciato il primo tirocinante vincitore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LONDON \u2013 Monday 14 August 2017<\/strong>.<br \/>\nBig Light Productions has selected the first winner from the prestigious \u2018Serial Eyes\u2019 postgraduate television training programme for its new apprenticeship programme, it was announced today by Big Light CEO <strong>Frank Spotnitz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Screenwriter <strong>Ruddy-Williams Kabuiku<\/strong> will spend three months at the London offices of the London- and Paris-based production company, observing series development and the intensive writers room process that Big Light has pioneered in Europe.<\/p>\n<p><em>Serial Eyes<\/em>, about to begin its fifth year, is a European postgraduate training programme for television writers and producers based at the DFFB in Berlin. Ruddy-Williams Kabuiku, a graduate from the University Charles de Gaulle Lille 3, was selected from among a dozen graduates of the Class of 2016-2017.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018Ruddy is a deeply gifted writer and we\u2019re thrilled to have him join us at Big Light,\u2019 said <strong>Frank Spotnitz<\/strong>, who has taught at the Serial Eyes programme since its inception in 2013. \u2018This apprenticeship reflects Big Light\u2019s commitment to sponsor new talent and foster collaboration.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Frank and his team have been committed to providing our participants with first-hand knowledge of the writers\u2019 room experience from Day 1. With this apprenticeship, they expand this training beyond the classroom and offer an important transition to the professional world,\u2019 said <strong>Benjamin Harris<\/strong>, the Head of Programme for Serial Eyes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Big Light gives me an exciting opportunity to develop my experience in the writers\u2019 room,\u2019 said <strong>Ruddy-Wiliams Kabuiku<\/strong>. \u2018I\u2019m delighted to be have the privilege of working with one of the most respected television writers in the world, Frank Spotnitz.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kabuiku graduated from the University Charles de Gaulle Lille 3 in Arts Media and Communication (BA). He then settled in Canada where he studied screenwriting at Langara College. Back in France, he co-directed the documentary <em>L\u2019amour en cit\u00e9<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, he\u2019s developing various TV series, web series and documentaries for a number of production companies.<\/p>\n<p>The apprenticeship comes with a \u20ac9000 bursary.<\/p>\n<p>Big Light\u2019s projects include the critically acclaimed and Emmy-award winning Amazon drama series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biglight.com\/work\/the-man-in-the-high-castle\/\"><em>The Man in the High Castle<\/em><\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biglight.com\/work\/medici-masters-of-florence\/\"><em>Medici: Masters of Florence<\/em><\/a>, a Netflix Original Series which set viewing records on Rai1 in Italy and is currently shooting its second season; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biglight.com\/work\/ransom\/\"><em>Ransom<\/em><\/a>, broadcast on CBS in the U.S., Corus\u2019s Global in Canada and TF1 in France;and the forthcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biglight.com\/work\/the-indian-detective\/\"><em>The Indian Detective<\/em><\/a><em>, <\/em>a Netflix Original Series.<\/p>\n<p>Spotnitz\u2019s credits also include eight seasons of the Peabody, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning series <em>The X-Files <\/em>and its two feature films;<em> Hunted<\/em>;<em> Strike Back<\/em>;<em> Night Stalker<\/em>;<em> Robbery Homicide Division<\/em>;<em> The Lone Gunmen<\/em>;<em> Harsh Realm<\/em>, and <em>Millennium.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Serial Eyes<\/em> is Europe\u2019s premier postgraduate training programme for TV writers and producers, and is funded by the EU Commission\u2019s Creative Europe-MEDIA initiative. The full-time course takes place in Berlin at Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (DFFB) from September to May each academic year, with visits to Copenhagen, London and Paris.
