MAYBE THERE'S HOPE?
I found this last night on a google search. Thought I'd pass it on.

IESB: X-Files, truthfully, I'm a huge X-Files fan, I was a bit disappointed with the new film. It didn't feel like an X-Files movie, but I hope to god, I know there's an idea that Chris [Carter] had about the 2012 mythology of the X-Files, the alien colonization, any chance we'll see X-Files 3?
TR: It's really up to Chris, David [Duchovny] and Gillian [Anderson].
IESB: The second one wasn't an expensive film.
TR: No, but it wasn't a matter of the money, that was the film that Chris wanted to do. He was determined to do a stand alone film, a film that wasn't dependent upon the mythology. His interest in making the movie, was in the characters and in their relationship, not the mythology.

You're probably getting inundated at the moment with similar questions, but I thought I'd ask about the comment made today by Fox Chairman Tom Rothman. Speaking regarding the possibility of "The X Files 3," he apparently said, "It's really up to Chris, David [Duchovny] and Gillian [Anderson]."
This is potentially great news, because I believe that you, Chris, David, and Gillian are all in favour of a third film! Would you be able to comment on Mr. Rothman's statement? (Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a reporter!).

We have recently read a Tom Rothman's interview in which he declairs that X Files 3 is more than possible and that the final decision is up to you, Chris, David and Gillian. Here's the link: http://www.moviehole.net/200816094-another-x-files-movie.
In some previous interviews, everyone (including you) said that it would be very cool doing another movie and if it will become a reality, we truly hope it won't have a six years' gestation. FOX is on our side!

The recent interview with Fox Chairman Tom Rothman seems to suggest that XF3 is still a very real possibility -- any thoughts, Frank? Do CC/DD/GA still want to do XF3? I hope they know how much we want them to do just that.

I just heard (literally in the last minute or so) that Fox may have greenlighted an "X-Files 3" -- is that true, Frank? I don't want to get my hopes up but if I hear it from you, I'll know it's a goer.

Fox chairman Tom Rothman told IESB today that, despite the lackluster performance of the latter, there's still the possibility of another - and he's leaving it up to the cast and crew as to whether they'd like to see that happen. ยก'It's really up to Chris [Carter], David [Duchovny] and Gillian [Anderson]", Rothman tells the site.

Please tell us that Rothman speaks the truth, when he says in todays interview on the IESB website, that the XF 3 movie WILL happen if YOU, Chris, David and Gillian are all up for it. You have lots and lots of fans that are "over the moon" if this news is true.

By now you've probably gotten several emails about the new interview Mr. Rothman gave to IESB.net (http://www.moviehole.net/200816094-another-x-files-movie). This sounds fairly hopeful (at least from my perspective). Any thoughts? I know I wouldn't mind adding this to my Christmas wish list (birthday list... Groundhog Day list... Arbor Day shouldn't be overlooked...).

I know you've had a million questions regarding the possibility of a 3rd "X-Files" movie and you're probably sick of giving the same answer out, but according to this article http://www.moviehole.net/200816094-another-x-files-movie, FOX chairman Tom Rothman said that it is upto yourself, Chris, David and Gillian whether you want to produce another X-Files movie. If this is true, will there finally be a light at the end of the tunnel for all us X-Philes that want to see the alien colonization in 2012?

I was encouraged to read Tom Rothman's remarks as well. I anticipated the studio would wait until after the release of the DVD to make any decision regarding a third movie, but I will let you know if we end up having any news before then.
