WHY THE RING?

hi frank! first of all, i know you are being thanked to death for the movie but i would just like to offer one more. i thought this was the most intelligent and best told story i have seen in a long time. it was thrilling, yet a beautiful love story and i am sorry that people just aren't getting it and how perfectly lovely it is. mulder and scully are right where i had imagined and hoped they would be so it was amazing to see that dream come true.
secondly, watching the movie (6 times) inspired me to go back and rewatch the series and it brought back a question that has been bugging me for years...why in the flashback episodes (unusual suspects and travelers) is mulder wearing a wedding ring?!? this used to plague me and i had forgotten about it until now. will this ever be addressed when (and yes, i say WHEN on purpose) the next movie comes out? please help me figure this out!

David wanted to wear his wedding band. Although we considered weaving it into the narrative of the series, we never did (!).
