TWO TIMES (SO FAR) IN ARGENTINA
Hello Frank! The movie opened here on Thursday, August 14th, and I've already watched it two times (and will many more!). I think it's a different film than the previous (not better or worse), which has found its own audience after a long time, introducing Mulder and Scully in a more mature and profound relationship. I liked seeing them together but still respecting each other's beliefs, still being basically the same people than they were 10 years ago in the inside.
Some lines in the movie slightly reminded me of "Millennium," i.e., when Scully says she doesn't want the darkness stepping into her home, or when Mulder says "This is who I am" (maybe not the exact words, but that was the idea). Were you trying to pay tribute to MM? Because it was another GREAT show, anticipated to its time, which we still care for!
What some people don't see about this film, is how beautifully it was filmed. Those long shots, the snowy landscapes, looked amaizing on the big screen. I've just heard the commentary track from FTF and one of the things mentioned was that most of the scenes taking part in the snow were CGI, but I you taught us it can look beautiful and eerie even with little special effect, just choosing the right angle and lightning as it is.
It is a film that needs a second (3rd, 4th and so on haha) view for all the separate readings you can make of it, and above it all, I'm pleased that, like in the old times, you make audiences think and not only feel your stories balancing both things at once. That is what made, and still makes The X Files an intelligent show, and is part of the reason why I love it. The other part is, of course, all those elaborated conspiracy theories (alien and not alien) and killer bees!
There were some characters I missed sooo badly! Like the Lone Gunmen (I know they're dead...but still!....can't they be ghosts, dreams, a flashback or an hallucination? hehe), and CSM. I believe CSM's not really dead...but don't tell anyone! Maybe the russian bad guy found his body parts after the explosion in The Truth and joined them all together again). That's a good way of relating XF2 with next movie, you see?
Seriously, thanks for this awsome movie! Waiting for the DVD release....
By the way, I'm part of SAEX, X Files Argentinian Society, and we all want to see a 3rd movie. ;)
