FOR THINKING PERSONS
I have to say how proud I am of my fellow Philes.
After spending the past number of hours rather glaring (insert series of explicative here) at the reviews I have been reading, journeying back to the source saved me from 'woeful melancholy.'
Thank you, my fellows.
Yes, it was a romance, of the most realistic and compelling kind. As many of you stated, I had to watch it a second time just to get a real feeling, the first time so numb from lack of stimulation, these intervening years, I think! How drole!
Many on different response forums to these horrid unenlightened reviews are going, as Ebert gratefully provided, "God, do you know how to think, and for yourself!?" Because, this is "X-Files," you have to.
Having started watching the show at 15, yes, I was the geek girl valedictorian that thought *I* was the loser (Thank you, Gillian for bucking up my self esteem.) I loved analyzing everything!
And, finally, after years, my entertainment has again paralleled my personal life, the nit-picky noble devotion to detail is back in full force, and who cares! I'm happy, as are all of you.
Good to know that we are having our Thinking Person's Days all over again, and our best friends and fellow Philes are excited again, and life is all shades of grey and not centered in conformed dualism again. The non-categorical people now again can broadcast their category with pride.
Gosh, I didn't even say anything about the movie? Well, it was good, great, personal, and cherished.
Chris, Frank, David and Gillian, thank you for being devoted to your craft, and as we have and continue to honor you, thank you for honoring us, no matter how silly we may get at times!
It is truly a strange family dynamic, isn't it? And, I love my family.
Ok, everyone, let's keep watching and dragging all the skeptics along. I mean, Mulder did that for how many years to Scully, and she became a believer, in her own wonderfully rigid and honorable way, of course. We wouldn't change a day on that.
And, slogan time, "Don't give up!" As I hear Gillian's voice as Scully yelling it, I really can't forget. And, who really wants to.
