CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT

I finally got to see "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" today (unfortunately, work kept me from catching it opening day) and I want to say thank you for giving this X-Phile a film that I haven't been able to stop thinking about. I've seen all the big blockbusters this summer and have had lots of fun at the movies, but none of them has given me as much to reflect on as IWTB has, not even the profound and critical darling "Wall-E". Others have so eloquently expressed what makes IWTB such a special film, so I will spare you the details. But I will say that regardless of how one would categorize "The X-Files," sci-fi/fantasty/horror etc, it is above all a love story, and I thank you for bringing that to the forefront of this movie. Despite all the bizarre and eerie villains that certainly creeped me out and scared the bejesus out of me during the show's incredible run, it was Mulder and Scully that kept me coming back week after week. I don't think I would have classified myself as a shipper a decade ago, but as Mulder and Scully have grown so have I and it is essentially their relationship that remains the heart and soul of "The X-Files." IWTB portrays this relationship fraught with sacrifice, heartache, fears and doubt, but also shows us its depth, commitment, and strength. We should all be so fortunate to experience a relationship like that in life, one that we work hard at each and every day, fight for, and not take for granted. As a true fan I thank you for not ignoring the history of the show, I thank you for all the Easter Eggs (especially the one after the credits, which most of the audience was oblivious to, for shame), and I thank you for giving me another new experience with my all time favorite characters. Thank you also for reaching out to the fans with events like those at the Apple Store in SoHo, which was amazing. I will be watching IWTB several more times in the coming weeks and dragging (forcibly) anyone else I can with me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Please make more!
