OBSESSION
I had the pleasure of meeting you and Chris at the New York ComicCon, but I wasn't really able to thank you. So I'm doing that now. Thank you for helping to make "The X-Files" such an amazing show. To this day, I have yet to really pinpoint the reasons that I love the show so much, but it has been a huge part of my life for over ten years now and I probably wouldn't be where I am today without it.
"The X-Files" was the first thing my husband and I ever talked about when we first met in our 11th grade English class. I talked about the show all the time to anyone that would listen and my husband says it gave him an excuse to turn around and talk to me. As an added bonus when we got married, he came with all nine seasons of "The X-Files" on DVD!
"The X-Files" also helped me along the way to choosing a career. The more I got into the show, the more time I spent online visiting "X-Files" websites. Eventually, I decided I wanted to make my own "X-Files" website and ended up teaching myself how. When it came time for college, I majored in computer science and am now a software developer.
I'm so glad that the show has always had such a strong online fanbase. I didn't really have any friends that watched the show (except for my husband but he came into the picture several years after I discovered the show), so it was really nice to go online and find people who had the same level of appreciation (obsession?) with "The X-Files" as I did. Even now 10+ years later, I still keep in touch with several online friends. I've met all of them in real life over the years. Some of them even came to my wedding!
During the past few years since the show went off the air, my obsession faded, but as soon as I heard the new movie was actually being made and I started watching the series again from the beginning, my obsession came back full force. I hadn't realized how much I missed the show. I love that even now, years later, I can discuss and analyze the show like its the first time. I love that I have a new perspective on the show now that I'm older. I love the monsters. I love the mythology. I love the characters. I love everything about the show. "The X-Files" was, is, and will continue to be a huge part of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for everything!
Before I wrap this up, I do have one question. I am hoping to fly out to California to watch the red carpet arrivals at the "I Want To Believe" premiere. Would it be possible for you to post the date once it's scheduled (if it's not already)? I know many other fans would appreciate it as well!

I'll make sure the information is posted, if not here, then on the official "X-Files" website. Look forward to seeing you then, Virginia!
