AFRAID TO OPEN

Frank, thanks for the blog, and for listening to the fans!
Last summer, when I took a road trip east to visit some friends, I hauled along my collection of XF DVDs (all nine seasons). While I was in Fort Wayne, IN, visiting a college friend, we had a little XF marathon, watching the first half of season one. Back in the day, he’d been a casual viewer, and there were many episodes he missed over the years. His wife thought we were crazy and didn’t want to watch the show with us. But, by the time I left their house, they were both hooked. They have been Netflixing their way through the seasons ever since, and as of last week were halfway through Season 6. (They had called me to verify the date of the movie and see if they could make it through all nine seasons by then.) Not only are they converts, but their baby knows the XF theme song and perks up his ears whenever he hears it. And, they told me that they’ve also gotten their neighbors hooked, who are now on Season 4.
Also, we the fans are very happy to see the blossoming internet advertising for the movie. However, I hope you realize that you are causing extreme anxiety attacks among the Shippers. Every indication we’ve received so far is that Mulder and Scully have been separated for the better part of six years. Until this movie came around, I had never even considered such a possibility, seeing how united the two of them were at the end of “The Truth.” I want to believe that they are still very much together and very much in love, but it is depressing for me to think that they might not be. I think I speak for many fans to say that we don’t care about spoilers for what the monster is or what case they’re working, we just want to know that Mulder and Scully are still together. A Christmas present isn’t much fun if you’re afraid to open it.
Can you assuage my fears?

I so wish I could... but I can't. Hang in there!
