WHY 'ED HEAD?'

This may not be the most profound question you will ever receive, but here goes: where did the name of the character Ed Head come from in "Night Stalker?" It seems rather unusual, as if it’s a nickname rather than a real name perhaps? As a techie problem-solver, might she have recurred in later episodes in a similar way that, say, the Lone Gunmen characters on "The X-Files" did?

You're exactly right, Jamie. Ed Head (played by Loreni Delgado) would have recurred in the series. While her role undeniably bore a resemblance to the Lone Gunmen, my intention was to connect her to Latino neighborhoods in Los Angeles as a way into the stories and mysteries taking place there. (And she was a love interest for Jain!) As for the name, it comes from my own family. "Ed Head" was what we used to call my brother Ed, who -- like Loreni's character -- earned the nickname for his incredible facility with computers and problem solving.

MORE KOLCHAK?

I purchased "Night Stalker" on DVD and my wife and I absolutely love it! I can't tell you how disappointed we are that there is no more. That is some of the best "TV" I've ever seen, and I can't help but feel sad that this show was put up against "E.R." at the height of its popularity where it didn't stand a chance. I think if more people had seen it and had a chance to see the quality of the production, acting, and story telling, it would have been very successful. Anyhow, here's my question: I realize that you have already stated (as in the answer to the August 17 e-mail) that there will be no more "Night Stalker" TV productions, but I'm wondering if you have ever considered jumping it to a feature film? And, if successful, a series of feature films? I'm a big "X-Files" fan, and I am looking forward to the new movie, but I'll tell you honestly, if I had a choice between seeing an "X-Files" movie produced and seeing a "Night Stalker" movie produced, I'd pick Carl Kolchak! Love your work!

Thanks, Mark. I think a "Night Stalker" feature is unlikely, but I'd certainly be up for it!
