INSPIRATION

A friend introduced me to "The X-Files" over a decade ago, when I was a nerdy kid of 11. She told me, "Watch it on Sunday!" and then next day, I came back with a dropped jaw: "It was AWESOME!" She and I became even more bonded because of this show. We watched it religiously, analyzed the episodes and we were extras during "The Unnatural" (something my friends still tease me about to this day, catching me and my goofy glasses in the baseball stands.) We still squeal about our girly excitement when we got to meet David Duchovny... twice in two days!
I'm surprised how influential a show can be. I'm constantly amazed at, as I've aged and watched my DVDs (and also picked up on things that totally and hopelessly flew over my pre-teen head) how emotional, intelligent, and well-versed the show was.
"The X-Files" has been an inspiration, a bond for friendships and something that invites its viewers to reconsider and reevaluate the world and its people. It gave me friends when I moved from SoCal to Alaska last year, where we found a common ground on the philosophies we've formulated and shared, and indulged ourselves in conspiracy-theorism. It's encouraged me to pursue a career I never would have wanted if it weren't for good old "Files." And I've permanently emblazoned the beloved ouroboros, just like Michelle wrote in a few weeks ago. (Though mine is not colored, the href="http://practicepuritycontrol.net/pictures/favoritetat.jpg">outline is simple for me.. and all I could take so I wouldn't scream!) I wouldn't have learned such beautiful symbols and histories about humanity if it weren't for "X-Files."
I think I'm just really writing to say that even years after the show has gone, one can never forget and one must appreciate the creativity and ingenuity their fellow man has created and given them. This wasn't some mindless garbage that soils the TV airwaves nowadays -- this was something that was passionate, fresh, and smart. How many shows can get people
together to dissect philosophies, sociological behaviors, scientific theories, and life beyond our world? Not many can manage that.
Some men give people religions -- you guys? You gave us X-Files. ;)
