'X'
I'm a new but passionate fan of "The X-Files;" just became hooked last year. I fell in love with the characters almost instantly; they were mature, intelligent, and especially highly moral people -- and the scripts usually did them justice. Mulder and Scully are fabulous role models. And even though I was thrilled that Mulder and Scully developed a physical relationship towards the end of the series, I won't lie, I was more pleased that they developed their relationship as a platonic friendship first. Thankfully they never deteriorated into romantic cliches, but kept their intellectual and ideological attachments at the core of their relationship. Overall, the show just had great writing.
There's one thing (okay, several) that bugs me: what's the symbolism behind the X that Mulder and Scully sometimes tape in their window when working on cases? I had this idea that maybe it was "The X-Files" version of playing "Eye of the Tiger" whenever the protagonists had to work hard on something, but I'd like to know your opinion.

The taped "X" on Mulder's apartment window was actually Mulder's way of summoning the aid of a mysterious source known only as "X," played by Steven Williams.
