8 and 9
First off, I'd like to just say thanks for "The X-Files" and that I can't even describe how much I love them. I've been re-watching the first seven seasons and have recently made my peace with Seasons 8 and 9. I was just wondering how the crew and everyone perceived Seasons 8 and 9 relative to the rest of the series. Was there opposition to continuing without(ish) Mulder?

I certainly had a lot of trepidation about going forward with David Duchovny appearing only on an occasional basis. The series clearly had been focused on Mulder's quest, and it seemed difficult to proceed without him there each week. Despite my misgivings, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience of working on the last two seasons. Having new story and character problems to solve was reinvigorating, and it was a delight working with the actors the last two seasons brought us.
