STILL, STILL WAITING

I'm sure that you get this a lot, and I know that you said that you'd keep us posted, but I just felt the need to send this. I'm sure that you're more than aware of the many "X-Files" fans who are still very devoted and eagerly waiting for the new movie. Yes, I'm one of them... and hope this will happen! I have all of the DVD sets, and never get tired of them. Heck, even though I own all the DVDs, I still watch the reruns on TNT and Fox. "The X-Files" was (and is) truly one of the most original and amazing shows on TV. The unique plots, great storylines and excellent acting set it above the rest. Not to mention the chemistry between all of the characters, which was simply amazing. It will never be forgotten.
I really wish that it would've continued on into a tenth season... and even more... but it didn't, so oh well! :)
Anyway, I just wanted to say... as time pushes on, don't forget about "The X-Files." Don't let this opportunity pass you by. Many fans really want this movie, and I believe that it could capture new audiences, and gain even more fans. Not to mention, it would please us who definitely miss the show! I know "The X-Files" can't go on forever, but you must satisfy our cravings for a new movie! I hope discussion is still in progress, and script writing will begin in the near future. I won't give up... and will keep looking forward to this happening. The truth is out there... and it should come to us soon enough.

Thanks for your patience and support. I will keep my promise to let you know when I have news, but -- frustrating as it is -- there still isn't any. I continue to want this movie to be made, and remain optimistic it will happen once all the dealmaking obstacles are resolved.

LONE GUNMEN RETURN?

A year ago, Dean Haglund revealed that early negotiations were underway for a direct-to-DVD "Lone Gunmen" movie. I was wondering if you were involved, or if you can give us any information on the subject.
By the way, I am a huge fan of every Ten Thirteen show and I am really eager to see "Night Stalker" and other Big Light projects.

As far as I know, there is no "Lone Gunmen" project in the works, although I'd certainly be happy if there were. I'll post it here if I learn of any progress in bringing those characters back to the screen.

LOOKING FORWARD

I attended your panel at Comic-Con and I really enjoyed the presentation, as did my husband. (Our teenage son was unfortunately ensconced at the Nintendo booth the entire con and our teenage daughter was star-gazing in Hall H, sigh.)
We are very much looking forward to your new show (even though we're still not over what happened to baby William, LOL!). My daughter liked what I told her about Gabrielle Union's character and my son liked the "scary" aspect.
I feel like "The X-Files" catered a little too much at times to scaring/teasing teenage and preteen boys, yet it obviously had a huge fan base of people my age (40s now and all genders). But it was a frustrating show to be a fan of... I hope "Night Stalker" will not only try to scare kids to death, but also appeal to the adult viewer!
And I echo the plea of the woman who asked the question about the victimization of females!

You summed up our goal perfectly: to scare kids to death, but also appeal to the adult viewer.
For those of you who weren't able to attend Comic-Con, we screened a 20-minute excerpt of the "Night Stalker" pilot, then Stuart Townsend, Gabrielle Union and I answered questions before an audience of about 4,000 people. As Esther indicated, one woman asked whether the series was going to be preoccupied with killing women. I reassured her, and I'd like to reassure you: The supernatural forces on our show will menace (at least) as many men as women. It will be scary. And fun.

COMIC-CON

As announced on the "Night Stalker" section of this site, I will be appearing at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday with the show's stars, Stuart Townsend and Gabrielle Union. We'll be answering questions, signing autographs and showing an extended preview of the pilot episode. For more information, visit the official website at www.comic-con.org.

INVESTIGATING "PI"

It's been about a year since "A Philosophical Investigation" was announced as being in development. Could you update us on how the project is coming along?
Robert
Madison, Wisconsin

The producers keep asking the same question! But I'm happy to report Chris and I have been hard at work on the script. This being the movie business, it still could be quite a long time before it actually makes it to the screen, but I will keep you posted.

MINI-MOVIES

I always enjoyed the episodes you wrote for "The X-Files" and I am quite excited about the "Night Stalker" series this fall. I actually have not watched television, excluding NFL games, since "The X-Files" series finale.
I have seen "X-Files" mini-movies for sale in England, such as "Provenance/Providence," on DVD. Will these two- and three-part episodes be released in the U.S. as mini-movies?
Matt
Green Bay, Wisconsin

As far as I know, there are no plans to release any mini-movies in the United States at the moment. As you probably know, Fox did recently release the first of three DVD collections focusing on the "mythology" episodes. The next collections are scheduled to be released later this year.
