UPDATING "STAR CHAMBER"

Hi. First things first -- great website!
I've read that you're writing and directing a remake of "The Star Chamber," that tale of a shadow court which dispensed its own brand of justice.
I wondered if you feel that the premise resonates with the current national security climate. Would your version be any more (or less) political than the 1983 film?

If you're familiar with the original film, then you're aware that it's very much a product of its time. When it was first produced, "The Star Chamber" tapped into a widespread sense that criminals were getting off on legal technicalities and loopholes. With "three strikes" laws and the Patriot Act, the climate in the country is very different now than it was then.
The new version of "The Star Chamber" still taps into a sense of injustice, but I think it's a more personal film than the original -- less a polemic about the system, more about the rage that drives the story's hero to seek justice outside the law.
